Heavy rains in Arunachal and resentment due to damage to rice crop
Arunachal Pradesh is currently struggling with severe monsoon crisis. Due to torrential rains in the state over the past several days, widespread floods and landslides have been broken in many districts. The fields were very sad due to the flowing from their edges and rivers and drains. This includes huge losses for paddy crop. The booming of the Sigin River, especially in the upper Subhansiri, affected Doporizu, where more than 80 houses were flooded and important roads and public amenities were submerged.
Red Alert has been issued in these areas
Red warning has been issued in many parts of Kurung Kum, East Kamang, Siyang, Shi Yomi, Kara Daddy, Lower Subhansiri, Upper Subhansiri, Namsai and Lohit. Due to continuous rains, landslides on the Bana-Sappa road were broken and a vehicle fell into a deep sock. In the accident, 7 people, including two young children, were killed. In this landscape, Tata Sumo, who was carrying a lot of passengers, was also narrowly evacuated, as it stopped next to the damaged road. However, Sumo’s passengers were not injured.
Connectivity of NH-13
At the same time, the NH-13, which sucks between Raga and Daporizo, is also affected, which has interrupted the connection. Flood waters in the twin capital cities of Itanagar and Naharlagun were submerged in roads and low -leasing areas, interrupting everyday life. Local people have been convicted to increase the urban development that is not planned, especially the newly built Trans-Arunachal Highway. Blocked traditional drainage systems and unscientific landfills have worsened the situation.

A concrete bridge on the Evil Dihing River in the Maglong area of Changlang is a risk of falling due to rising water level. Meanwhile, warning has been issued about heavy rain in Tezu (Lohit district). Despite repeated warnings, authorities are appealing to residents to prevent hazardous behavior- such as fishing in floods such as Machwara Camp- especially with children. The administration took emergency measures.
Most sections on high alert
The deputy commissioners of many districts have issued a ban order in which the residents of sensitive areas are advised to go to safe areas. All relevant departments, including police, disaster response teams and civilian supply, have been kept highly vigilant. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has experienced heavy rains in Arunachal Pradesh and in some places at least 31 May, 2025. There is also a thunderstorm with lightning and strong winds. The rain is associated with low pressure systems in northeastern India, which contributes to chronic monsoon.
Most rivers are on spate
IMD has issued a warning to the state for many threats. Due to the increase in its tributaries in the Brahmaputra River and neighboring Assam, the regional impact of Arunachal rain is already experiencing in northeastern India, but fast rains. The southwest monsoon is expected to continue with high rainfall.
