Vacant government centers and private dealers in Himachal are buying wheat from farmers at high prices!
The wheat harvesting season in Himachal Pradesh began and the state’s Civil Supply Corporation opened two wheat collection centers in Una district. But for these two centers, the attraction of the farmers is zero. Every year in the state, farmers plant wheat in about 60,000 hectares. So far, only 1,530 quintals of wheat have been purchased from farmers in Una.
A million tons of production every year
According to local media reports, these two collections are located in the Takarla village of the Amp sub -division and the Rampur village of the Una Sub Division. Officials hoped that these centers would be successful in purchasing more of the district crop. UNA APMC Secretary Bhupinder Singh confirmed the total purchase data. Unan is called ‘Grain Bowl’ in Himachal Pradesh. Lakh quintals of wheat are produced annually in the district.
Why do farmers rotate their face
This year, the minimum support price of wheat on wheat (MSP) has been set at Rs 2,425 per quintal. However, private traders are taking wheat and going home. For this reason, these traders have become a favorite choice for many farmers. Farmers have also shown this in this regard. Bachchan Singh, a farmer from Ransari village, said that private traders are providing more MSPs than MSP and buying products directly from the fields. For this reason, both effort and cost are decreasing. He said there was no need to go through grains or go through a mess.
The government center has become ‘trouble’
Another farmer pointed out the obstacles to sell wheat in government centers. According to the farmer, the mobile app must first be registered, and then wait for his turn. After this, the products should be taken by itself. Then 2 to 3 percent of grains are wasted when cleaning. The corporation only pays for cleaning wheat, which reduces income.
Payment will take place immediately
According to farmers, private traders do not demand or delay payment. Usually they pay in the form of cash and do it immediately. APMC Secretary Bhupinder Singh said the goal of government procurement centers is to help those who cannot reach the open market. But even if farmers sold anywhere, it is important for farmers to get the right price.
