Its name, which means “we” in Latin, also emerged from Tupi-Guarani, where it represents a plant that produces fruit with thin thorns. With its nickname “green meat”, due to its high protein content, the plant is widely used in traditional dishes of some parts of Minus Garies and Gois, especially in colonial historical cities.
