Alvaro Diace is recognized as a political debt for a period of councilman | Method

The Amnesty Commission (MDH) of the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship has recognized the former Senator Alvaro Dias (Somos) as a political loan waiver. The decision was based on his performance as a councilor in Londrina (PR) from 1969 to 1971, with no salary. The former Senator did not ask for financial compensation.

Councilor Rodrigo Lentz reviewed the Amnesty request submitted by Alvaro Dias, who issued an opinion in favor of the application. According to the councilor, the measurement of military dictatorship to eliminate the salary of councilors aims to exclude some part of the society from politics. “This is, above all, the movement of workers connected to the working class and a great strategy of dictatorship to eliminate the poor class.”

During the dictatorship, the two organizational actions that deal with the salary of councilors were amended. AI-2, 1965, concluded that there would be no payment to the members of the municipal parliament. Salaries were limited to capital councilors or cities with more than 300,000 residents of 1969, which was not so in the case of Londrina during the Alvaro Dias period.

Prior to voting, Lentz Alvaro quoted the public plan of Dias, who was already the governor of Parana and contested for the Republic presidency in 2018. Lentz Senate Days was mentioned in 2023 at the 60th anniversary of the 1964 military coup.

In addition, the councilor stated that officialism was widespread at the time. “How did the dictatorship reached many theoretical spectra. We know the ideological positions of Mr Alvaro. It displays the width of that period of power.”

With recognition, days may be counted for retirement purposes in the public service and general social security regime.
