OVAR Room enhances firefighters support to ensure bath safety

OVAR City Council has approved the additional financial support of 47,000 euros for the humanitarian associations of volunteer firefighters for the Esmoraz, with the aim of strengthening safety on the beaches of the municipality during the 2025 bathing season. This support allows you to guarantee the permanent presence of firefighters and one rescue car in Praia Do Furadouro in addition to 4 firefighters on Esmoriz Beach, which which is that You will work. Between June 7 and September 7, every day, from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm. These means represent the complementary support of the surveillance of the Salvator who were rented by the municipality.
“The safety of our beaches is a responsibility we bear very seriously. This reinforcement is not only an investment in our firefighters, but also in protecting thousands of people who, every year, see our coast moments of entertainment and comfort.”
This additional support is added to the cooperation agreement in February 2025 by the municipality with the province’s firefighting brigade, with an amount of 642,955.20 euros, which is already a 9 % increase compared to 2024, which covers the performance of permanent intervention teams, human resources fees, operating expenses and basic investments.
In addition, in 2025, strengthening the means on the beaches of Esmoriz, Cortegaça and MADAA, by volunteer firefighters in Esmoriz, expects, taking into account the main scout events that will happen between July 25 and August 10, the sixteenth global paint of Scouts.
The approved protocol also also includes an attachment of 1000 euros per company, designed to ensure the ability to respond in emergency situations outside the bathing season, which enhances the willingness of firefighters throughout the year.
Through this exceptional support, OVAR municipality enhances its commitment to safety, civil protection, the welfare of the population and visitors, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the beaches of the province with confidence and calmness.
