Martinho Depression: Losses in agriculture in the western region exceeded 2.5 million euros

The Agriculture Minister visited some agricultural explorations on Thursday at the Torres Vedras Municipality affected by bad weather. The western region has so far recorded 2.5 million euros in agriculture. Farmers ask for emergency support for the government.
Martinho Depression has caused damage to strawberry production to the western region. The strength and heavy rain of the air destroyed the greenhouses, flooded the earth and compromised all the product.
“The damage is big. It hurts infrastructure, plastic, production losses and fruits… We are making regular data to give the CCDR some normal data and make risks exceeding 500 thousand euros,” said Strawberry Producer Andre Rok.
The Agriculture Minister went to the Torres Vedras Municipality on Thursday to analyze the damage and hear the worries of the producers.
“We have a number of levels of support for explorations with more than 30% damage in terms of damage in terms of damage to both the re -ment or performance of the materials. Five thousand euros up to 100% support, 5 to 50 to 400 to 50% agriculture.
To date, there are 2.5 million euros in the western region. Farmers are now asking for emergency support for the government. Regional Coordinating and Development Committees are conducting a survey of damage to the agriculture sector.
The Agriculture Minister assured that they would be analyzed whether they need a state assistance or any credit line to support farmers who do not meet 30% of the losses.
Opening warnings for applications should take place between one to two weeks.
