Potato: ‘Quality Seeds, Advanced Technology’ … What is Potato Development Policy
Alu Vikas Water: The UP government runs a potato development policy to provide the right rate of their production to potato farmers and promote its cultivation. The purpose of this approach is to promote potato cultivation in the state and produce quality yields. According to this policy, the government has created some guidelines as follows-
- Potato cultivation requires quality seed production.
- Promote quality potato production.
- To promote advanced technology of potato cultivation.
- Preparing potatoes and seed reserves in the state.
- Potato promotes marketing and exports from the state.
- To promote the potato -based processing industry.
- Developing the skill of scientific methods for farmers for production and technical transfer.
According to the ALO Development Policy 2014, the production of certified potato seeds in the state increases so that farmers can get good and high yielding seeds.

Districts involved in potato development process
Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Bundshahr, Hapur, Aliga, Hantras, Mathura, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Bareilly, Badan, Kannouz, Etawa, Kanpur Nagar, Kaushumbi, Lucknow, Ray Bareli and Barabanki.
Farmers will take advantage of subsidy
- Payment of state assistance at Rs 10,000 per hectare is transferred to farmers’ accounts through direct purpose transfer (DBT).
- Which farmers will take advantage of the potato development policy
- Farmers must have their own land.
- Farmers should have adequate resources for irrigation.
- Farmers should be interested in verification and production of potato seeds.
- Farmers have to take verified seeds that are processed from the horticulture department or any other organization, whose receipt should be given to the district park.
Farmers have to register in the Uttar Pradesh State Seed Certification Society, then need to check/test the crops and tag the productive potato seeds. Based on the report of the verification organization, the immediate payment is transferred to the farmer account.

How to apply in potato development process
According to the Potato Development Policy, farmers are mandatory on the Departmental Website for the respective district horticulture office. To take advantage of the policy, farmers need to register online in upagriculture.com. Farmers can register online through cyber cafes, customer care, Kisan Loquany Institute or their own resources.
