Up – Sugarcane Production and Payments to Farmers in UP

The Yogi government has decided to take a strict attitude towards non -payment mills. To this end, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the command area allocated to Sugar Mills for the purchase of sugarcane should be decided on the basis of sugarcane prices records. The government is committed to getting time bound payments for farmers. He said that there would be toughness against those who delay the mills or the mills. The Chief Minister gave these suggestions at a review meeting of the sugar industry and sugarcane development department. At the meeting, the department was informed about the price of sugarcane, productivity, infrastructure, employment and future schemes through the Departmental Presentation.

Farmers, KVK, sugar mills and committees make joint efforts

Chief Minister Yogi said that it is necessary to make sophisticated seeds available to farmers in a timely manner for better sugarcane yields. For this purpose, Krishi Vigion Kendras (KVK), sugar mills and sugarcane committees have to work together. Mill representatives, committee officials and KVK officials must visit the fields and follow the crop and maintain a constant conversation with farmers. Also, the participation of ministers in the farmer seminars must be confirmed. He also expressed the need to strengthen the cane committees.

Cooperative and federal mills will be reviewed

CM has stated that the current 142 working days should be increased to 155 days, along with the sugar mills of the cooperative and federal sugar mills. According to the Chief Minister’s instructions, the merits of the staff working there are also assessed in addition to the production capacity of these mills.

Payment of 85 2,85,994 crore in the last 8 years

At the meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Milwar also reviewed the updated cane price payment status. In the current tenure of the government so far, 85 2,85,994 crores has been paid, which in 1995-2017, 4 72,474 crores more than 13 2,13,520 crore. Of the 4 34,466.22 crore, 83.8%, which was prescribed in the year 2024-25, ended up to 828,873.55 crore. The Chief Minister has ordered the payment cycle to be smooth so that all the farmers will get a full payment soon.

Product and productivity is likely to double

Information on the regional expansion of the cane, in 2016-17, the sugarcane area was 20.54 lakh hectares, which increased to 29.51 lakh hectares in 2024-25. During the same period, productivity reached 84.10 tonnes/hectares from 72.38 tonnes/hectares. CM Yogi said that the planned efforts would increase the product and productivity in Uttar Pradesh twice. He explained that the government’s priority was the government’s priority and suggested that the transparency, timing and technical -based innovations were made for the benefit of sugarcane farmers.

9.81 lakhs employed

The meeting informed the meeting that 122 sugar mills, 236 continental units, 8,707 crusher units, 65 cozen units and 44 distillery units were active in the 45 districts of the state and a total of 7,856 KLD. 9.81 lakh people are directly employed from these units.

150.39 million liters of ethanol production

In the context of ethanol production, an additional 105.65 crore liters of production capacity was also established at a cost of Rs 6,771.87 crore from private investment. The initiative was very beneficial for fuel security and the chief minister was described as the increase in the income of the farmers and ordered the implementation of schemes to increase the ethanol ratio in the fuel mixture.
