The answer must be confirmed without hesitation: Yes, workers are entitled to rewards, even if they do not provide an activity due to blackout.

It is a legal status in force, but the law protects the worker in these circumstances. The responsibility for ensuring payment of salaries cannot be displaced for those who were ready to do their job, only they do this in a higher order or for operational safety reasons. Especially if sending the workers ’house is a decision for the employers themselves, it is taken wisely and understanding, but from a legal point of view it does not eliminate the duty of revenge.

In addition, the issue of material justice and economic safety of workers at stake. It can be an unjustified reduction in the rewards, even if it is only one day, has an unparalleled punishable.

At the same time, it is important to combat the wrong idea that the salary is an award for daily productivity. The salary is the reflection of the contractual bond and a permanent availability of work, not a bonus of the piece. If the worker has clarified his commitment to presenting himself, to be available or transfer to the workplace, he cannot be responsible for the structural failures of the electrical system or the higher decisions that determine the closure of the establishments.

This episode should be cautious as there can be no gray areas when it comes to protecting workers. The salary is often the only source of the income of most families. The opening of the legal precedents of not paying salaries in unexpected situations would give legitimacy to an unfair factor in an inconsistent manner for those who depend on this income.

In short, the right to the workers’ salary that was rejected due to a blackout is not a discussion issue in light of work legislation because it is a legal and moral commitment to employers. Respecting this right is to respect the dignity of workers and the dignity of workers.
