Waqf Amendment Act: The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to consider the 13 new petitions to challenge the Vaqf (Amendment) Act 2025, and it was difficult to deal with them.
What did the court say?
The lawyers of several petitioners urged the bench of Indian Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar to hear their petitions with current petitions. After this, the bench said, “We will no longer increase the number of petitions … they will continue to grow and it is difficult to deal with them.”
However, the bench, including Feros Iqbal Khan, Imran Pratapkarhi, Sheikh Munir Ahmed and the ‘Muslim Lawyers Association’, urged the petitioners to intervene in key petitions if there is an additional basis to challenge Waqf law.
‘We will all listen’
The Chief Justice said that we will listen to all of us … Five cases have been registered. If you want to argue at extra points, file an intervention application in the case.
