Aveiro: The return of “entertainment between arches”
The CMA Council reinforces the return of one of the city’s most symbolic traditions: Arkos enhancement, in Milo Freitas Square, also known as “under the arches”.

Since the early twentieth century, this place was known for the sale of entertainment newspapers, which was part of the urban identity of Aveiro. More than just a care and bright care service in the shoe, this space was a meeting point and social communication, where the main headlines of the newspapers were read and the news and programming of the city, the country and the world were read.
In order to honor this traditional and value profession of the historical importance of the place, CMA has developed a new fun banking, in a contemporary project implemented by Larus. The Temple offers a modern design, inspired by the attractive ARTE news and the symbolic corridors of the square.
This space is now returning to life with the cooperation of one of the ancient fats of Arcos, thus restoring the icon of the urban scene and contributing to preserving the city’s and non -material heritage. The initiative also aims to educate new generations of identity offices, and save memories and traditions that are part of Aveiro’s collective history.
Arcos Glasses banks operate, in a trial period, until September 30, 2025, on Saturday from 14:00 to 18H, and on Sunday and holidays, from 10H00 to 13h00.
