Farmers bought 655.94 lakh tonnes of broken fertilizer record in 2024-25

According to the Business Line report, the sale of Muret of Potash (MOP) increased by 33.9 per cent to 22.02 lakh tonnes from 16.44 lakh tonnes. Sales of complex fertilizers also increased by 28.2 per cent to 149.72 lakh tonnes from 116.8 lakh tonnes. However, DAP sales recorded a major decline, which fell to 96.28 lakh tonnes from 109.74 lakh tonnes. DAP sales have declined due to lack of supply by between 2024.

2020-21 records were broken

At the same time, the total sales of fertilizer were recorded at 655.94 lakh tonnes in 2024-25 FY, which is the highest level so far. In fiscal year 2023-24, the sale of fertilizer was 600.79 lakh tonnes. In this way, it has increased by 9.2 percent. Earlier in 2020-21, the record sales of 621.91 lakh tonnes were recorded during the Kovid epidemic.

A recorded decline in demand

At the same time, according to the estimates of MOP and complex fertilizer demand, there is a decline of 1 percent. MOP demand is 22.21 lakh tonnes and complex. At the same time, the Center imported 56.47 lakh tonnes of urea in the financial year 2024-25 from April to March 2024-25.

Earlier, in 2023-24, imports were 70.42 lakh tonnes, so urea fell 19.8 % in imports. Earlier, in the fiscal year 2020-21, the center imported 98.28 lakh tonnes of urea, which was recorded. Due to the decline in various fertilizer imports, its impact is that the cost of the central government subsidy has also been reduced.
