New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today headed a comprehensive meeting to review the cleaning and revival of the Yamuna River, New Delhi’s Lok Kalyan Mark. The meeting was attended by Union Home Minister, Hydro Electricity Minister, Delhi Chief Minister and other senior officials.
The meeting reviewed the plan to clean up the Yamuna River, in which short term (3 months), medium period (3 months to 1.5 years) and long (1.5 to 3 years). These activities include managing drains, solid waste management, managing sewage and dairy waste, industrial waste management, identifying differences in sewage purification infrastructure, improvement in the river, flood ground safety, green river development and public participation.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need to improve the drinking water system of Delhi and spoke about the reduction of leakage and non -income water. The Delhi government was advised to prepare the “Urban River Management Program” for the overall water administration and connect to the primary project. The meeting was discussed from Haryana, Delhi and Priyagraj in various parts of Yamuna. The Prime Minister was informed of the current state of the waste water treatment structure and the issues relating to the governance that affects the quality of Yamuna.

The Prime Minister said that people should have a better experience during festivals like Saad Pooja in Delhi. He emphasized the necessity of the mass participation movement, in which citizens must be included in the River Renaissance and around it. He, in particular, underscored the cultural importance of the Praj region, and suggested to “pilgrimage” as part of this mass movement.
The Prime Minister also advised to monitor the flow and performance of sewage treatment plants in drains using real -time data and space technology. Based on this data, the projects must be made and the performance of the existing infrastructure must be increased. The Prime Minister invited all the agencies to make an integrated efforts to clean up the Yamuna River and re -provide life.
